Improve our neighborhood pool!
Imagine a pool with colorful shade structures, ample seating, appealing landscaping, and fun features for the kids to play on during safety breaks.
This could be possible for our little neighborhood pool...with some help from you!
Get Involved
We will need help implementing this project, installing some parts of the equipment and working on general park upkeep. Please lend a hand in whatever capacity you can, and consider joining the Friends of Murchison Pool.
Fundraising Completed
We were able to raise $30,000 to match the City's grant to buy additional picnic tables, benches, and landscape improvements. We are very grateful to all of those who contributed to the effort!

With your help as well as the help of many of our neighbors and neighborhood partners, we will transform Murchison Pool into an inviting summer oasis. We are planning to add the following components:
- 2 shade structures and a picnic pavilion
- 8 more picnic tables
- 5 more benches
To define the components of this project, we conducted a community survey in September 2014 to assess what neighbors want to see at the pool. We were pleased that over 200 neighbors responded to the survey and were consistent in citing the need for shade, additional seating, and general improvements to make the pool area more inviting.

About The Friends of the Park
The NWACA Parks Committee has created Friends of Murchison Pool, which serves as the official Adopt-A-Park partner to the City of Austin's Parks & Recreation Department (PARD). Friends of Murchison Pool plans volunteer work days at the pool and will be charged with maintaining any improvements that we put in place. Top Concerns
Central Texas is in a long drought cycle, despite occasional rain. Dry NWACA landscapes and the homes within are vulnerable to wildfire because we live in a greenbelt with a lot of wildfire fuel in its dead and down material. Our homes are most at risk from flying embers. They can be made relatively safe by removing debris, sealing all points of entry from flying embers, and clearing dead and dry vegetation.
