2020 Fourth of July Parade Cancelled

June 15th, 2020

It is with great regret, but also with commitment to public health and safety, that the Northwest Austin Civic Association (NWACA) announces the annual NWACA Fourth of July Parade and Freedom Festival are cancelled this year.

We applied for, but were unable to obtain, a parade permit. Moreover, we couldn’t get a permit for a car parade. After consulting with local officials and evaluating tentative state and federal timeframes for the restoration of holding large gatherings and public events, we have determined that this year’s celebrations cannot occur.

For nearly 50 years, our community has celebrated the Fourth of July together with a parade and freedom festival. We understand how much our neighborhood looks forward to coming together as a community - this year, maybe more than any other year - to celebrate our history and traditions. Unfortunately, the various obstacles to planning a 2020 event in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in our board cancelling the event this year. But, the parade and festival will be back next year bigger and better than ever!
