Speed Studies – 2010

The Austin Police Department completed a Stealth Box Study of traffic on Greystone Drive (4200 block between Mesa and West Rim) on December 2-3, 2010. The speed limit is 30 mph, but 46% of drivers were speeding over 30 mph and of them, 13% over 35 mph with speeds up to 50 mph! 9-10 am and 2-3 pm are the worst times.

The Austin Police Department completed a Stealth Box Study of traffic on Far West (4200 block between Waterline and West Rim) on November 16-18, 2010. The speed limit is 30 mph, but 43% of drivers were speeding over 30 mph and of them, 12% over 35 mph with speeds up to 58 mph!

The Austin Police Department completed a Stealth Box Study of traffic on Mesa Drive (7300 block between Far West and Burney) on September 15-17, 2010. The speed limit is 30 mph, but 74% of drivers were speeding over 30 mph and of them, 30% over 35 mph with speeds up to 54 mph! 5-6 pm is the worst time for violations of the speed limit here.

The Austin Police Department completed a Stealth Box Study of traffic on Burney Drive (4200 block) on May 25-27, 2010. The speed limit is 30 mph, but 36% of drivers were speeding over 30 mph and of them, 13% over 35 mph with speeds up to 60 mph! 4-5pm is the worst time for violations of the speed limit here.
